TOLEDO, OH - Freshman Tanaya Beacham underwent a medical procedure on Thursday, Nov. 10 and will be sidelined for the next few weeks, head coach Tricia Cullop announced on Monday. The ninth-year head coach hopes to have the local product back later this season.Â
"I think we have the worst part behind us," Cullop said. "Tanaya has already had her procedure, and we look forward to having her back very soon. Only time will tell exactly how soon that will be. We didn't predict this would happen, but I think this has made our team better because we've had other players step up in her absence."
A year ago, Beacham tallied 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game as a senior team captain at nearby Toledo Rogers High School. She played a key role in helping the Rams successfully defend their City League title and reach the Division II regional final, en route to garnering third-team all-state, first-team all-district and first-team all-conference honors. A three-star recruit, Beacham was listed as the No. 20 forward nationally by espn.com.
