Toledo Falls to MAC West Rival Central Michigan, 3-0

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo surrendered a goal in the fifth minute of the match and could not respond en route to a 3-0 loss to Mid-American Conference rival Central Michigan on Thursday afternoon at Scott Park.
The Rockets (6-6-1, 1-3-1 MAC) recorded only one shot in the first half but a flurry of second half opportunities led to a 9-8 shot advantage during the match. Six of Central Michigan's eight shots came in the opening frame.
Natalie Knauf, Alex Troy, Lauren Taylor and Jordyn Greer each took two shots to lead the Rocket offense.
The Chippewas (11-1-1, 3-1-1 MAC) got on the board 4:25 into the game as Alexis Pelafas headed in her conference-leading 12th goal of the season.Â
The two teams played evenly until the 45th minute when Madison Costner scored with two second remaining on the clock. Costner found the back of the net with her second goal in the 53rd minute off a long shot in the offensive third of the field.
Katie Wilson made three saves in the first half and did not record any in the final frame. CMU keepers made four saves, all in the second half.
Toledo is back on the road Sunday as it takes on Eastern Michigan at 1:00 p.m. in Ypsilanti, MI.
