TOLEDO, OH - Toledo men's tennis will travel to Kalamazoo, MI this weekend to compete in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Invitational on Friday-Sunday Oct. 28-30. The Invitational will be hosted by Western Michigan at the West Hills Athletic Club.
The tournament will feature all six MAC teams and will use bracketed draws of seven flights for singles and two doubles matchups.
Play is scheduled to begin on Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. and will start Saturday at 8:30 a.m. On the final day of competition, the tournament will conclude with matches beginning at 8:30 a.m.
"Well I'm not going to sugar-coat our situation, we have so many guys out right now that we almost downsized our travel vehicle to a SmartCar," said head coach Al Wermer. "On the bright side, this will be an incredible opportunity for a few guys to prove themselves at higher position and we're very excited to see what they can accomplish."
UT has compiled a 22-20 overall record in singles play this fall and has been led by sophomore Vince Anzalone who has won five out of his eight contests. Junior Omar Espinosa, sophomore Reid Teatsorth and sophomore Serjen Olmedo have each collected four victories this fall.
In doubles action, the Rockets have posted nine wins and eight losses. Anzalone and Teatsorth have paired up to tally a team-high four victories.
This weekend's singles and doubles draws are attached and fans can visit WMUBroncos.com to keep up with the tournament's action.
Toledo will resume action on Friday, Jan. 20 when they welcome Dayton to the Glass City.
