10/21/2016 10:23:00 AM | Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country
TOLEDO, OH – The men's and women's cross country teams will conclude the regular season at the Eastern Michigan Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 21. The women's race will begin at 4:30 p.m., while the men will run at 5:00 p.m. at Hudson Mill Metro Park in Dexter, MI.
The men and the women are back in action after their 14th and 34th-place finishes, respectively, last week at the adidas Pre-National Invitational. The meet featured multiple nationally-ranked teams which helped the Rockets gauge themselves entering the MAC Championships next week. The EMU Fall Classic will serve as the last rehearsal for the Midnight Blue and Gold.
Freshman Dismas Koech led the team at the Pre-National Invitational with a 35th-place finish overall. Dismas Koech has cemented himself along with juniors Alberto Chelimo, Titus Koech and Stalline Kurgat as the team-leaders entering this last week of the regular season. Chelimo finished fourth on the team last week with an 87th-place overall standing after finishing first on the team in each of the prior meets.
Junior Maja Pacaric has worked her way up on the women's side to finish first on the team last week. She joins a core made up of freshman Athena Welsh, sophomore Jennifer Lichter and juniors Joan Jepkirui and Caroline Lambert that look to lead this team into the post-season.
Following this meet, both teams will race for a conference title at the MAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Kent, OH. The first race will begin at 11:00 a.m.
