Hannah Ielfield, Karina James and Lianna Surtz earn academic honor with program being honored for ninth time
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's cross country team has been named 2025 Division I Cross Country All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Student-athletes Hannah Ielfield, Karina James and Lianna Surtz have earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors as well.
The team posted a program-best 3.683 team grade point average during the 2025 fall semester and earned the program's ninth academic honor from the USTFCCCA. In order for a team to qualify, they must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Ielfield, James and Surtz earned All-Academic Athlete accolades after posting cumulative GPAs of at least 3.25 and finishing within the top-25 of the NCAA Cross Country Great Lakes Regional race.
Seven members of the women's cross country team tallied perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall term, including the 2025 MAC Women's Cross Country Individual Champion James.
