
Zanoguera, Capotosto & Harris Named to Academic All-MAC Team

CLEVELAND, OH - Senior Inma Zanoguera, junior Ana Capotosto and junior Brenae Harris have been named to the 2014-15 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league office announced on Monday. The Rockets finished fourth in the league for the most academic recipients, trailing only Bowling Green with five and Northern Illinois and Kent State had four each.
Zanoguera becomes only the fifth player in school history to earn academic all-league accolades on three occasions, joining Dana Drew (1990-95), Angela Drake (1993-97), Kim Knuth (1995-99) and Naama Shafir (2008-13), while Capotosto and Harris are first-time recipients.
A communication major with a minor in business and a 3.61 GPA, Zanoguera led the Rockets in scoring (15.4 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg), assists (5.0 apg, No. 37 in NCAA), steals (1.8 spg), minutes played (35.7 mpg), overall field goal percentage (.458, 178-of-389, minimum 175 attempts) and free throw percentage (.866, 129-of-149, No. 21 in NCAA) this season.
The 2014-15 first-team all-league honoree concluded the year third in school history in free throw percentage, second in minutes played (1,178) and 10th in helpers (166) in the single-season record book.
Zanoguera ranked second in the MAC in dimes, free throw percentage and minutes played, third in assist/turnover ratio (1.9, 166-88, No. 60 in NCAA), fourth in thefts, eighth in scoring and overall field goal percentage, 15th in defensive boards (4.5 rpg) and 18th in overall rebounding.
The three-time All-MAC selection scored in double figures on a squad-best 27 occasions during the year, including a career-high 28 points twice against Akron (Jan. 14) and Buffalo (Jan. 21).
An early childhood education major with a 3.78 GPA, Capotosto started 30 contests in 2014-15 and averaged 7.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.3 steals in 26.7 minutes. A three-point specialist, she buried 38 triples during the year, the second-highest total on the squad, and made at least three treys in a contest five times.
The 2014-15 team captain also scored in double figures on 13 occasions, the fourth-highest total on the team, including a season-high 20 points vs. Southern Illinois in the second round of the New Orleans Shootout (Dec. 20).
The Saugatuck, MI native led the Rockets in rebounding and steals on three occasions and scoring and assists twice.
In MAC contests, Capotosto tallied 6.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.2 apg and 0.3 spg in 26.1 mpg.
A communication major with a 3.54 GPA, Harris started all 33 games in 2014-15 and contributed 9.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 0.9 steals in 33.8 minutes. One of two Rockets to start every contest, Harris ranked fifth in the MAC in minutes played, tied for 13th in helpers, 14th in free throw percentage (.728, 67-of-92) and 25th in scoring.
 The 2014-15 honorable mention All-MAC honoree registered double figures in points on 15 occasions during the year, the third-highest total on the squad. She tallied 16 points, a career-high 11 boards and a collegiate-best 11 dimes vs. Wright State in the first round of the Postseason WNIT (March 20) to record the first triple-double in school history.
One of the MAC's premier defenders, Harris led the Rockets in thefts 10 times, helpers on five occasions, scoring and rejections four times and rebounding once.
In MAC contests, Harris tallied 10.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.6 apg and 0.8 spg in 34.7 mpg.
The 27-member team was the result of voting by the faculty athletic representatives from among a list of candidates with a minimum of sophomore status and a minimum 3.20 GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
Zanoguera, Capotosto and Harris helped the Rockets post a 19-14 overall record in 2014-15, including a 10-8 league ledger. UT also gained a berth in the 2015 Postseason WNIT and advanced to the second round of the event for the fifth-straight time.
