Sathika Ruenreong Fires One-Under 71 in First Round of Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, OH – Junior Sathika Ruenreong was the only individual to shoot under par at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on Saturday and leads the field by three strokes. Ruenreong carded a one-under par 71 with three birdies and two bogeys at the par-72, 5,960-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Toledo stands in second place as a team at 15-over par 303, one stroke behind Western Michigan's 302. The host Falcons and Youngstown State are tied for third place at 20-over par 308.
Junior Manisa Isavas, who tied for the tournament lead with 14 pars, sits three strokes behind Ruenreong in an eight-way tie for second place at two-over par 74. Rounding out the Rocket lineup are senior Stephanie St-Jean (78/T-17th), senior Jennifer Elsholz (80/T-25th) and junior Morgan Salm (82/T-35th).
"Sathika's play today was phenomenal on a day that was tough to go low," Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "Manisa also played very well, but we need a team effort tomorrow if we're going to come away with the tournament title."
Freshman Napaphan Phongpaiboon is competing as an individual and tied for 25th place at eight-over par 80.
The second and final round of play is slated to begin tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
