Red-Hot Toledo Travels to Streaking Horizon League Member UIC on Sunday

CHICAGO, IL - Red-hot Toledo (3-6) continues its tough non-conference slate on Sunday, Dec. 20 with a road contest at streaking UIC (7-1). The opening tip against the Horizon League member Flames is slated for 3:00 p.m. (CT) in the UIC Pavilion and can be seen on ESPN3.
The Rockets ran their winning streak to three straight games with a 66-53 home victory over Cleveland St. this past Saturday, Dec. 12.
UT overcame a slow start and outscored the Vikings 38-17 over the second and third quarters to earn its 10th-consecutive home triumph in the series.Â
Senior Ana Capotosto paced Toledo with a career-high six triples and a collegiate-best 22 points. The two-time team captain also pulled down a season-best 10 boards to post her second-career double-double.
Joining Capotosto in double figures were sophomore Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott with a season-high 19 points and junior Janice Monakana had 11. Senior Brenae Harris also chipped in a season-best nine assists.

Toledo shot only 39.7 percent (23-of-58) from the field, but a season-best 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the free throw line.Â
The duo of Capotosto and Bravo-Harriott did a bulk of the damage from three-point land, shooting a combined 9-of-14.  Â
UT, which is 2-4 away from home, is fueled offensively by the quartet of Harris, Capotosto, Bravo-Harriott and Monakana, who are averaging 13.3, 12.1, 9.9 and 9.3 ppg, respectively.
The Flames enter Sunday's contest in the midst of a five-game winning streak, including a victory over Mid-American Conference school Central Michigan, 66-63 on Nov. 27. Most recently, UIC claimed a 56-46 triumph at Denver on Thursday.
Ruvanna Campbell and former Rocket Kendyl Nunn led the victorious Flames with double-doubles against the Pioneers, tallying 15 points with 17 rebounds and 10 points with 16 caroms, respectively.Â
UIC features an attack with three players averaging at least 9.0 points per contest led by Campbell and Nunn at 18.8 and 15.3 ppg, respectively. Campbell is also tallying a squad-best 14.8 boards and 1.9 blocks per game.Â
Sunday's non-conference match-up will also bring about a reunion. UIC's Nunn was a member of the Rockets during the 2012-13 season. Nunn appeared in five games for the Midnight Blue & Gold, averaging 0.8 points and 0.6 rebounds in 2.2 minutes.

UT and UIC will meet for the sixth time overall but the first since the 1997-98 campaign. The Rockets have won all five match-ups in the series, most recently claiming a 97-49 home triumph on Dec. 20, 1997. UT has also won two contests on the road against the Flames, most recently securing an 88-71 victory on Dec. 14, 1996.
Following Sunday's contest, Toledo will host Arkansas-Pine Bluff in its non-conference finale on Tuesday, Dec. 29. The opening tip against the Golden Lions is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Savage Arena and can be seen on ESPN3. UT and UAPB will meet for the first time.
