TOLEDO, OH — Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the signing of 6-5, 215-pound forward James Gordon IV (Shelbyville, KY) on Friday to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Toledo beginning in the 2016-17 academic year.
"James possesses a high skill level and is very athletic," Kowalczyk said. "He can play both forward positions and that versatility is a big plus for us. James is also a tremendous student and possesses high character and is someone who will fit in extremely well in our program. We're also fortunate to be adding player from the Simeon Academy because that means he will be well-coached and know how to win."
Gordon attended Shelby County High School the last three years (2012-15) before transferring to Simeon Career Academy in Chicago, IL this past summer. Gordon averaged 12.6 ppg en route to earning all-region honors as a junior. He also was an all-region selection and earned a spot on the all-district tournament team as a sophomore after averaging 12.9 ppg.
Toledo opens its 2015-16 campaign on Saturday, Nov. 14 in Savage Arena when it hosts West Virginia Tech. Tip-off time is set for 2:30 p.m.
