Rockets Suffer 3-0 Loss in MAC Match to Ball State

Muncie, IN – Toledo dropped a 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-14) decision to Ball State on Thursday, Oct. 29 in Worthen Arena. UT, which opened conference play this season with a 3-2 setback to the Cardinals (12-13, 6-5 MAC) in Savage Arena on Sept. 24, dropped to 4-20 on the season and 1-10 in league contests.
Sophomore OH Saige Thomas led UT's attack by posting eight terminations, while sophomore MB Rachel Vidourek and sophomore OH Annie Beasley followed with five apiece. Beasley also recorded a team-high .300 attack percentage. Freshman OH/S Carly Townsend tallied 24 assists.

Defensively, freshman libero Maurissa Leonard led the backcourt with 19 digs and sophomore DS Lauren Bakaitis added 14.

The Rockets were able to force the first set into extra points, tying the score on 10 occasions. While UT was able to post a .379 hitting mark as a team, they were not able to overcome Ball State's impressive .480 offensive efficiency.Â
The Cardinals held Toledo to a negative hitting percentage in the second set and a .088 in set three by outblocking the Rockets by a 10-4 margin.
Ball State hit .357 for the match with UT tallying a .136 ATK%. The Cardinals were led offensively by Amanda Raker (1.000 ATK%) and Mackenzie Kitchel (.500 ATK%), who each notched nine kills apiece.

UT will host Akron on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. before playing its final two road contests of the season next weekend. The Rockets will visit Northern Illinois on Friday, Nov. 6 and Western Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 7.
