Toledo Sits in Sixth Place After Opening Two Rounds of Crooked Stick Intercollegiate

CARMEL, IN – Toledo sits in sixth place after the opening two rounds at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate on Monday. The tourney is being hosted by Big Ten Conference member Indiana at the renowned Crooked Stick Golf Club (Par-72, 7,516 Yards).
The Rockets fired a team score of 21-over par 597 (305-292) to find themselves first among four Mid-American Conference squads. Ball State (304-303=607) currently stands in seventh place, followed by Eastern Michigan (314-299=613) in ninth and Northern Illinois (316-315=631) occupies the 11th spot, respectively.
Top ranked Illinois leads the 12-team field with an even-par 576 (297-279). The Fighting Illini hold a comfortable nine-stroke advantage over Purdue (292-293=585) and a 14-shot lead against Kentucky (300-290=590).
Sophomore Colin Joseph carded an even-par 144 (74-70) to pace Toledo and is tied for fifth place, looking to post his first Top 10 finish of the season. The second-year Rocket was solid over the course of today's opening two rounds, recording eight birdies. Joseph is one of only seven golfers at even-par or better among the 66 players in the two-day tourney.
Sophomore Stephen Watts is tied for 15th place at five-over par 149 (77-72), followed closely by senior Otto Black who is tied for the 20th spot at seven-over par 151 (75-76). Rounding out UT's lineup are freshman Spencer Shoemaker, who is tied for 49th place at 14-over par 158 (79-79) and fellow newcomer Mike Lee is tied for the 53rd spot at 15-over par 159 (85-74), respectively.
Kentucky's Tyler McDaniel is atop the individual leaderboard with a sensational 10-under par 134 (67-67).
The third and final round of the two-day tourney will be held on Tuesday with Toledo's tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. off hole No. 1. The Rockets will be teamed up with No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Xavier for the final 18 holes of competition.
