Ann Arbor, MI - The Toledo swimming and diving team came up short in its first dual-meet of the season, being outscored 171-121 by Michigan on Friday, Oct. 21 at UM's Canham Natatorium.
Michigan took the lead in the first event and widened the gap as the meet progressed. The Rockets were unable to match the Wolverines' depth in terms of top-three finishes in each event, but they were able to record seven first-place finishes on the night.
Top finishes were scored by McKenzie Bagan (100 butterfly - 57.64); Rachel Johnson (1,000 freestyle - 9:59.62); Carly Harter (200 freestyle - 1:50.90; 200 IM - 2:04.95); Laura Lindsay (100 breaststroke - 1:01.91; 200 breaststroke - 2:15.38); and the 200 freestyle relay team of Beth Rogers, Johnson, LesLee Winfield and Hannah Hornis.
"We had a really good opportunity to compete with a top-20 program," said head coach Liz Hinkleman. "We just didn't consistently put ourselves in a position to be competitive tonight. We saw a lot of improvement, time-wise, from the Tom Stubbs Relays, but we still have a lot to work on."
UT's next dual-meet is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29 at Buffalo.
