Rockets Finish Ninth in Opening Spring Tournament

KINDER, LA - Toledo finished its opening tournament of the 2009 spring campaign with a ninth-place showing at the Koasati Pines Collegiate Classic. The Rockets registered a team score of 946 (316-317-313) and finished 22 strokes behind tournament champion Texas State (924). The Bobcats carded a 304 in the final round to make up a five-stroke deficit on second-round leader McNeese State and win the tournament title.

Texas State's Sydney Liles captured medalist honors with a tournament-record tying six-over par 222.

Senior Boram Lee tied for 12th place to lead the Rockets with a 14-over par 230 (76-79-75). Sophomore Michelle Hui also registered a Top 20 finish tying for 19th place at 233 (77-77-79). Rounding out the UT lineup was sophomore Erica Rivard tied for 30th place at 238 (80-79-79), freshman Angela Ibarra tied for 53rd place at 246 (83-82-81) and junior Marguerite Johnson in 75th place at 256 (87-89-80).

"I'm very excited with the way we played during our five days in Louisiana," Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "I thought everybody made a lot of progress and hopefully we can carry this over into our next tournament."

The Rockets return to action at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate on Sunday-Tuesday, Feb. 22-24.
