BLOOMINGTON, IN - Toledo (8-2) will put its season-high five-game win streak on the line at Indiana (7-4) on Tuesday, Dec. 22 in Assembly Hall. The opening tip is slated for noon. It is the Rockets' longest non-conference win streak since they won seven straight during the 1996-97 campaign. That year UT finished with a 27-4 mark and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The Midnight Blue & Gold enters tomorrow's action with the best record in the Mid-American Conference West Division and is coming off an 86-74 victory at SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, Dec. 20.
UT buried a season-high 13 three-point field goals and shot a sizzling 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from beyond the arc against the Cougars. Sophomore Clare Aubry paced the attack with a career-high five triples and finished with a team-high 17 points off the bench. Junior Jessica Wiliams had three treys and tallied 11 points, sophomore Courtney Ingersoll buried a pair of three-pointers and registered 10 points, while senior Allie Clifton made one trey and scored 10 points.
UT, which is 4-1 away from Savage Arena this season, is fueled offensively by sophomore Naama Shafir and senior Tanika Mays, who are averaging 13.7 ppg and 12.1 ppg, respectively.
Toledo will be facing a Hoosiers' squad which had its three-game win streak snapped with a 77-75 overtime loss at Cleveland State on Saturday, Dec. 19.
IU features an attack with four players scoring at least 9.0 points led by Jori Davis' 16.9 ppg and 6.5 rpg. Indiana is 3-2 at home this season. Fourth-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's team returns two starters and eight letterwinners from last season's 21-11 squad that advanced to the third round of the WNIT.
UT and Indiana will be meeting for the fourth time overall. The Hoosiers lead the series, 2-1, and most recently claimed a 61-60 victory on March 15, 1998 in the second round of the WNIT in Savage Arena.
Following tomorrow's contest, Toledo will wrap up the 2009 calendar year at Morehead State on Tuesday, Dec. 29. Tipoff from Johnson Arena is slated for 7:00 p.m. The Rockets defeated the Eagles, 78-69, on Dec. 19, 2008 at home.
MSU returns four starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's 17-14 squad, guided by third-year head coach Mike Bradbury.
