
Rockets Split Singles Matches in 4-3 Loss to UIC

“This was an extremely competitive match and unfortunately we ended up on the losing end today,” Head Coach Tracy Mauntler said. “We have a lot of work to do before our conference schedule, but I have confidence in this team and I know they will step up.”
The Rockets and Flames split the singles matches for three points apiece.
Frey defeated UIC's Kristen McPhillips 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot. Frey is now 15-2 in singles and 1-0 at the No. 3 spot in the line-up.
Junior Jenny Belsky beat the Flames' Grace Gil-Morlis 6-2, 6-3 for the second point. Belsky is 12-2 in singles and 1-0 at the No. 4 spot.
Sophomore Nadia Zoubareva won over UIC's Amy Jellish 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a tiebreaker. Zoubareva is 11-5 in singles and 1-0 at the No. 5 spot.
Playing for the first time this indoor season was sophomore Martina Wodzinski who came close to getting a point for the Rockets when her match against UIC's Ilinca Cristescu went into a third-set tiebreaker. Wodzinski lost 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4) to move her record to 9-4 on the season.
