TOLEDO, OH - A day after opening its Mid-American Conference schedule with a win at home, the UT swimming and diving team picked up another MAC victory at the UT Rec Center with a 162-126 win over Eastern Michigan University.
"It was a hard-fought match against a good team," said Head Coach Lars Jorgensen. "I thought we swam well and that Eastern Michigan did a great job today."
The Rockets were led by Meghan Reissig, who posted two-first place finishes in the meet. Reissig swam the 200 backstroke in a first-place time of 2:07.07 and also touched the wall first in the 200 IM (2:08.57). The junior narrowly missed out on a third first-place finish as she captured second place in the 100 backstroke by less than two-tenths of a second.
"Meghan really made some improvements today and that was great to see," Jorgensen said. "Kylie Gamelier and Amanda Thompson also had good days today."
Gamelier was the first-place finisher in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, posting times of 1:05.50 and 2:20.75, respectively. Thompson took the top spot in the 100 butterfly with her time of 56.70.
Brittany Teneyck and Jacy Dyer contributed first-place points to the Rocket total in two events. On the diving board, Teneyck swept the events with 264.30 on the one-meter board and 252.75 on the three-meter. Dyer had won both the 500 freestyle (5:01.60) and the 1000 freestyle (10:16.44).
The Rockets will have two MAC meets next weekend, heading to Oxford, OH to take on the Miami RedHawks on Friday Nov. 7 at 5:00 p.m. and to Athens, OH on Saturday Nov. 8 to face the Ohio Bobcats at 1:00 p.m.
