
UT Runs the Course at All-Ohio

DELAWARE, OH - The Rocket's cross country teams were put to the test against intrastate competition over the weekend at the All-Ohio Championship and the men finished 17th (440 points) and the women placed 12th (312).
Elisha Kipchumba was the top Rocket finisher for the second-consecutive meet, crossing the finish line in 35th place in a time of 26:34.70. Ken Kiptoo Samoei finished second for UT for the third-straight meet with a time of 26:48.00 and placed 43rd. Barnaba Kiprotich was UT's third-place finisher with his season-best 8K finish of 27:18.30. Chris Wall and Jonathon DeWitt rounded out Toledo's top five with times of 28:07.60 and 28:46.80, respectively.
On the women's side, Sarah Neubacher finished first for the Midnight Blue and Gold in 19:34.60 for 49th place overall. It was her fastest time of the season and marked her debut as the first-place UT finisher. Audra Brown repeated her second-place finish from last week, completing the course in a season-best time of 19:36.00 for 52nd place overall. Emma Kertesz went from fifth among Rockets last meet to third, running the couse in 19:45.10. Karen Sovacool was the No. 4 UT runner for the second consecutive week, placing 42nd overall with a finish time of 19:47.90. Jenna Fausey made her debut in the Toledo top five with a 74th-place time of 19:51.90.
The men's individual winner was Malone's Nik Schweikert (25:18.20) with Malone taking the team title (68). Cedarville nabbed the women's title (74) while Cincinnati's Lilian Jelimo was the top female runner (17:45.70).
The Rockets return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they compete at the Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green beginning at 10:00 a.m.
