Kalamazoo, Mich. - Toledo men's tennis faced the Broncos of Western Michigan this afternoon losing 5-2. The Rockets are now 12-12 and 2-2 in the MAC.
Shining for Toledo today in singles play was the freshman. Keith Moran captured the point for the Rockets at No. 5 a very competitive match, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (15-13). Tyler Sonkin captured the other UT point at No. 6 dominating his competition 6-3, 6-2.
"The doubles was neck and neck," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "We knew they would challenge us with the # 38 ranked doubles teams in the FILA ITA rankings. Our singles started slower than I like but we had chances as the match progressed. Keith and Tyler did a nice job competing as freshmen in difficult road-match environment."
In doubles play, the No. 2 team of Mohammed Al Nabhani and Jared Miller were the solo doubles team to capture a victory. The team won 8-7. The other two doubles teams didn't go down easily. At No. 1 Travis Curran and Brian Rager lost 8-6 and Moran and Chris Clark lost 8-4.
Toledo will take the court again this Sunday when they host Buffalo in the final regular season match. Before the match seniors Travis Curran, Josh Moran and Brian Rager will be recognized in their final home match of their Rocket careers. First serve is set for 1 PM.
