TOLEDO, OH - Assistant coach Stephanie White has resigned her position effective at the end of the season to accept a similar position with the Chicago Sky of the WNBA, University of Toledo Head Coach Mark Ehlen announced today.
White has been an assistant for the Rockets the last two seasons. She was involved in all facets of the basketball program, including recruiting, on-floor coaching, scouting, individual workouts and academic support. White was also heavily involved with the Rockets' individual and team summer basketball camps.
"Stephanie has done a great job for us the past two seasons," Ehlen said. "She has been a great representative of our program and is an icon in women's basketball. We were fortunate to have her at Toledo and wish her well in Chicago."
Last year in her first season working with the Rockets' guards, she helped mentor Danielle Bishop to honorable mention All-MAC honors. She has also played a key role in expanding the Rockets' recruiting scope to Georgia (Ta'Yani Clark and Nacole Stocks), Indiana (Tamesha Scotton) and Canada (Chelsea Kane).
Prior to coming to UT, White served one season each as an assistant coach at both Kansas State (2004-05) and Ball State (2003-04).
Ehlen said a search for White's replacement will begin immediately following the completion of the season.
