BIRMINGHAM, AL - Toledo concluded play at the inaugural Shoal Creek Intercollegiate this afternoon with a 14th-place finish (302-297-299--898). The event was hosted by the Univ. of Alabama-Birmingham at the par-72, 7,114-yard Shoal Creek Country Club.
Sophomore Ciaran McAleavey (76-71-73--220) led the Rockets by finishing in a 25th-place tie with a four-over par 220. The remainder of the Rockets' lineup consisted of senior Richard Kilpatrick (75-76-73--224) tying for 43rd place, junior Tyler Riley (79-74-76--229) and sophomore Renaud Langevin (72-77-80--229) tying for 57th place and sophomore Justin Hull (79-76-77--232) tying for 67th place.
LSU captured the tournament title by one stroke over Tennessee with a one-under par 863. The Tigers led after the first round and came back from falling behind the Volunteers following the second round. The host Blazers finished third in the team standings.
East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies and Tennessee's Jonathan Mount were declared co-champions after playing even on a four-hole playoff. Notre Dame's Cole Isban (69-69-72) was knocked out on the first playoff hole. Davies' scores were 72-70-68 and Mount carded rounds of 70-69-71. The trio finished the 54-hole tournament at six-under par 210.
Toledo will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11 for the Gary Koch Intercollegiate in Tampa, FL.
