Toledo, OH - The Rockets played even with Butler in the singles matches but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs won the doubles point and the 4-3 victory over Toledo at the Laurel Hill Tennis Club on Friday night.
Myriam Cueva (No.1), Sarah Horning (No. 4) and Sarah VanderMolen (No. 5) all won their singles matches. VanderMolen and partner Viviana Rivero also won their No. 2 doubles match. But Butler pulled out wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point.
"We fought like crazy in the singles matches but just came up short," said Head Coach Tracy Honko. "The difference was definitely the doubles point tonight. They played better doubles than we did. I am happy with the overall effort of the team. I am seeing improvement with each match."
The Rockets next travel to Milwaukee next weekend to face Marquette and Illinois State in a pair of dual matches.
