TOLEDO, Ohio - Bruce Gradkowski threw a school-record six touchdown passes, three to
Lance Moore, to lead Toledo to a 56-29 win over Buffalo Saturday night.
Gradkowski finished 23-of-25 for 435 yards and no interceptions. His 92 percent completion rate set a school record and was the second-best percentage in Mid-American Conference history. He also rushed 40 yards for the Rockets (6-3, 4-1 Mid-American Conference), who had
a school-record 685 yards on offense to 395 for Buffalo.
Jared Patterson scored both touchdowns for Buffalo (1-9, 1-5) in the first
half, on runs of 6 and 7 yards. Dallas Pelz kicked five field goals for the
Bulls, all at least 39 yards.
Buffalo led the game briefly when Patterson scored his first touchdown with
3:40 left in the first quarter to make it 10-7. The Rockets answered less than
a minute later with Gradkowski's 9-yard scoring pass to Moore.
Gradkowski connected with Moore on a 43-yard pass on the next drive and two
hooked up on a 50-yard pass in the third quarter.
Steve Odom also caught two touchdown passes from Gradkowski, a 21-yarder in
the first quarter and a 66-yard pass in the second quarter.
Moore finished with eight catches for 195 yards and Odom had nine for 143
yards. Moore's three TD catches set a school record.
Trinity Dawson had 107 yards rushing on 14 carries for Toledo, including a
1-yard scoring run in the third quarter.
Buffalo quarterback Randy Secky finished 23-of-35 for 254 yards. He also had
six carries for 15 yards.
Matt Knueven had eight catches for 101 yards for Buffalo.
Toledo is off next Saturday, then hosts Northern Illinois on Nov. 15 in a 3:00 p.m. game that will be televised as the MAC Game of the Week.
