Toledo Effort Not Enough at Ohio in MAC Action

ATHENS, OH - The University of Toledo women's swimming and diving team dropped a 174-126 decision to Mid-American Conference foe Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Rockets fall to 2-3 on the season, 1-1 in the conference.
Freshman Mandy Ranc led the Rockets with another victory in the 1000 freestyle (10:30.62) and anchored UT's 800-yard freestyle relay. The squad of freshman Makenzie Manard, junior Emily Markovich, freshman Sara Stech and Ranc won with a time of 8:00.01.
Toledo swept the top two spots in the 100 backstroke. Senior Lauren Beckett touched the wall first with a time of 1:07.75, while junior Iiris Hilvo finished right at 1:08.43.
In a reverse of the 100 backstroke, Hilvo placed first (2:23.75) in the 200 backstroke with Beckett finishing second (2:24.25) and senior Samantha Keevey capturing third (2:25.68).
The final UT winner of the evening was Markovich, who placed first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.84.
Toledo returns to action next Friday, Nov. 7, when the Rockets host arch-rival Bowling Green at the Student Recreation Center starting at 6:00 p.m.
