Women's Golf Team Takes Fifth at Colonel Classic

Richmond, KY - The University of Toledo women's golf team finished fifth in a 15-team field at the 2001 Colonel Classic in Richmond, KY today. The Rockets shot a final-round score of 318 to finish with a tournament score of 967.
Tennessee Tech won the Colonel Classic with a two-day score of 922. Arkansas State finished second (945), followed by Murray State (951), Eastern Kentucky (953) and Toledo.
The Rockets were lead by a trio of sophomores. Junior Keli Higgins shot a 54-hole score of 234 and tied for ninth overall. Angie Kephart finished 22nd with her score of 243 and Stefanie Eifert placed in a tie for 23rd overall, shooting a 244. Freshman Sara Boogaard recorded a two-day score of 251 and sophomore Katie Schmidt rounded out the UT scoring with her 254.
Senior Katie Jordan entered the Classic as an individual an finished in a tie for 20th place. Jordan shot a final-round score of 80 to finish with a 242. The fifth-place showing is the second-straight fifth-place finish for UT. The Rockets wrap up the season in Columbus, OH on Saturday-Sunday, April 21-22 in the Buckeye Spring Invitational.
