TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (15-9, 7-6 MAC) hosts Western Michigan (4-18, 4-9 MAC) on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 2:00 p.m. looking to build momentum for the 2001 MAC Tournament which is just over two weeks away.
The Rockets will play three games in the next five days, including their regular-season home finale vs. Eastern Michigan on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
UT currently is battling for a homecourt berth in the first round of the MAC Tournament. The Rockets enter Saturday's game tied with Akron and Ball State for the No. 7 seed with seeds No. 4-8 hosting first-round games.
The Rockets will look to regroup from a heartbreaking 70-68 loss at Central Michigan on Wednesday. Chad Pleiness hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer to give the Chippewas at least a share of the MAC's West Division title.
UT had tied the contest with five seconds to play on a pair of free throws from senior center Craig Rodgers.
The Rockets registered an 89-72 victory over WMU earlier this year on Jan. 6 in Kalamazoo behind Greg Stempin's 20-point and 15-rebound effort.
Stempin leads UT in points (17.7 ppg) and rebounds (7.8), while freshman Terry Reynolds ranks second in points (12.6) and is first in assists (4.9 apg) and steals (1.8 spg). WMU's attack is paced by senior forward Jon Powell (15.5 ppg) and junior forward Steve Reynolds (14.8 ppg).
