Tom Duncan, a Toledo native and former standout quarterback at Bowsher High School, earned three letters in football for the Rockets from 1968-1970. Playing during some the most successful years in UT history, Duncan helped lead his team to 23 consecutive victories and two undefeated seasons. Capturing back-to-back MAC Conference championships in 1969 and 1970. Duncan and the Rockets made consecutive trips to Orlando to compete in the Tangerine Bowl. Thrashing Davidson in 1969 and William and Mary in 1970. Duncan started every game from 1968-1970, first as a cornerback and later as a safety where he defended his reputation "head hunter" game after game. Possessing excellent speed, size, and quickness, Duncan was a proud member of a defensive squad which captured two national total defense championships in his three-year career. Assuming greater leadership responsibilities as a senior co-captain, Duncan also took over place kicking duties. Honored as a first-team All-MAC defensive back as a senior, Duncan was invited to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. These individual recognitions capped the successful career of an important contributor to the Rockets' winning tradition.
