Ted Zuchowski starred as two-way tackle in 1941. After military service in World War II, he returned to letter in 1946 and 1947. Those two Rocket teams went 15-4-2 and won two Glass Bowl games. Ted was All-Ohio in both of those seasons. One rival coach, Herb Eisele, who coached John Carroll in the days of Don Shula when that institution was nationally known for its football, praised Ted Zuchowski as: 'The best all-around ball player I have seen in years, everything a coach could ask for." At 6-2, 235 pounds, Ted Zuchowski was chosen in 1945 to represent the US Army in the Army-Navy Hawaii Bowl game that featured the most outstanding college players in the Pacific theater of World War II. He was a starting tackle on a team that included many college All-America players. Following the 1947 season, Ted Zuchowski was drafted for professional football by Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.
