Steve Murray

      Steve Murray has been the director of strength and conditioning at the University of Toledo since 1997. Murray supervises the strength and conditioning programs for Toledo varsity sports at Charlie and Nancy Creech Performance Center in Savage Arena. From 1997 – 2008 he also served as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for football.

      Murray came to Toledo from the U.S. Military Academy, where he had served as assistant strength coach from 1994-97. At Army, Murray was responsible for overseeing the strength and conditioning programs for 720 student-athletes in 15 varsity sports. He also supervised the graduate assistants and a 25-member cadet strength team.

      From 1990-94, Murray served as an assistant strength coach for the NFL’s Washington Redskins where he assisted with the players in-season and off-season strength training and conditioning programs. Prior to and during his tenure with the Redskins, Murray also worked at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he served as the director of strength and conditioning programs for 14 federal government fitness centers.

     Murray is a 1987 graduate of Penn State University, where he majored in health education. In 1991, he earned a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from Slippery Rock (PA) University.

     Murray and his wife Patricia are the parents of four children, Ryan, Kyle, Kristen and Jordan.
