J.B. Shugarts is in his second season as a graduate assistant coach for UT. He will work primarily with the offense.
Shugarts was a four-time letterwinner on the offensive line at Ohio State from 2008-11. He started in 35 games for the Buckeyes, who won three Big Ten titles during his career. Shugarts went on to spend time with six NFL teams from 2012-14.
Shugarts grew up in the Houston area where he was a Parade All-American at Klein High School. His father, Bret Shugarts, played briefly for the Pittsburgh Steelers in th 1980’s.
Shugarts earned his bachelor’s degree in human ecology from Ohio State in 2015.
