NFL hopefuls run drills for scouts and staff from all 32 NFL teams
TOLEDO, Ohio - Scouts and team representatives from all 32 NFL teams were on hand to watch recent graduates of the Toledo football team run drills at the annual Pro Day at the Fetterman Training Center on the campus of The University of Toledo on Monday.
A total of 14 players from last season's team participated in the 40-year dash, the vertical jump and other drills under the watchful eyes of NFL reps. Joining those 14 were a select group of invitees from other schools.
Safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, who is projected as a high draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, limited his workout to agility drills. At last month's NFL Scouting Combine, McNeil-Warren had an impressive showing, running a 4.52 time in the 40-yard dash, including a 1.58 10-yard split.Â
"I feel blessed and grateful for the opportunity to be out here competing with my brothers, showing all the scouts what we can do," said McNeil-Warren, who was named to All-America teams for the Associated Press, FWAA and the Sporting News last season. "I feel like I did what I needed to at the Combine. I just ran some drills and supported my guys."
Fellow defensive backs Avery Smith and Andre Fuller, who also participated in the NFL Scouting Combine, said they were pleased with their performances.
"I wanted to come out here, do my shuttle and L-Drill again, and I feel like I did what I needed to do."said Smith, a two-time All-MAC selection.
"I feel like I did great today. Finished the area drills the best I could, caught the balls, made clean breaks," added Fuller, a First-Team All-MAC choice in 2025.
Running back Chip Trayanum also had an impressive showing on Monday. Trayanum, who was not invited to the NFL Combine, said he felt motivated by the oversight but wasn't losing sleep over it.
"It definitely added a little bit of extra chip on my shoulder, not getting a Combine invite, but I control what I can. I just leave it all out there in my performance," said Trayanum, a First-Team All-MAC selection who rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. "I'm just a guy that's willing to work hard, keep his head down, and just grind. I'm somebody who is just going to get the job done."
The 2026 NFL Draft will take place April 23-25 in Pittsburgh. Toledo has had 11 players selected in the NFL Draft in the past decade, including cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, who was the 22nd pick of the first round of the 2024 draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. Mitchell went on to be named runner-up for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for the Super Bowl champion and was named an All-Pro last season.
