Ella Zoerhoff and McKenna Schultz each score for Toledo
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's soccer team suffered a 3-2 setback, after an 81st minute goal finished as the decider at Paul Hotmer Field on Sunday.
Â
After conceding the first goal, the Rockets (4-2) received tallies from Ella Zoerhoff and McKenna Schultz to grab a 2-1 lead late in the half. However, the Eagles (5-1-2) tied the match in the 43rd minute. Each team produced second-half chances, before the winner was netted in the 81st minute off a rebound opportunity. The defeat snapped Toledo's four-match winning streak.
Â
The contest was evenly-matched much of the afternoon, with Georgia Southern holding a slight 13-10 edge in shots and 6-5 in corner kicks. Both teams' goalkeepers made three saves apiece.
Â
Zoerhoff's goal was her sixth of the season, already the most a Rocket has scored in a season since 2023 (Madison Medalle – 7). Schultz's was her third of the campaign.

Quoting Head Coach Mark Batman
"It's a challenge when you're trying to teach teams how to consistently win and what that looks like every single day. I thought we had some really good moments, just not enough of them. We have a week off, and we'll reset and get back to it on Tuesday."
Â
Rocket Scoring Summary
The Rockets will remain home to finish their non-conference slate on Sunday, Sept. 13 against IU Indy. Kickoff from Paul Hotmer Field is at 1 p.m. on BCSN and ESPN+. Sunday's game will support mental health awareness.
