Rockets Hit the Road to Take On Ball State

Toledo eyeing its sixth consecutive Mid-American Conference victory
TOLEDO, Ohio – After sweeping a three-game homestand, the Toledo football team hits the road for the first time in 29 days, when the Rockets take on Ball State at
Scheumann Stadium in Muncie, Ind. for Week 5.
The Rockets (3-1) quickly ran away from San Diego State in a 41-16 triumph. After the Aztecs opened with a field goal, the Rockets scored 34 unanswered points to put the game under wraps. Bryson Hammer bookended halftime with a 78-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter and a 38-yard touchdown grab in the third. The defense came through with six tackles for loss, three sacks and two turnovers.

Toledo will look to extend its MAC winning streak to six wins and its conference road winning streak to three. The Rockets and Cardinals met last November in Toledo, with UT registering a dominant 38-9 victory. Ball State (1-3) opened MAC play last weekend, falling at Kent State, 26-13.

• Toledo enters Saturday on a three-game winning streak, having outscored opponents 153-74 in the stretch.
• Toledo has scored at least 40 points in every game of its streak. Only Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Toledo have scored at least 40 points in each of their Week 2, Week 3 and Week 4 games.
• Toledo leads the league in five statistical categories, including scoring offense (43.3 points), passing offense (305.5 yards), total offense (468.0 yards), first downs (21.0) and fewest sacks allowed (2.0 - tied).
• Toledo's defense continues to be a presence, with six tackles for loss, three sacks and two turnovers forced against San Diego State.
• Toledo has been particularly strong after halftime through the first four games, outscoring opponents 93-49, including 52-9 in the third quarter. Toledo has outscored each of its first four opponents in the second half.
• A Rocket was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week. Bryson Hammer earned the nod after going for a career-high 133 receiving yards vs. the Aztecs, including touchdown catches of 78 and 38 yards.
• Like quarterback John Alan Richter the week prior, Hammer earned the honor for the first time in his career.
• Connor Walendzak has a rushing touchdown in each of his first four games and has seven total touchdowns - five rushing and two receiving.
• With a win over Ball State, Toledo would have a six-game MAC win streak. The Rockets finished 6-2 in the MAC last season with five straight
triumphs to finish the season.
