Budapest, Hungary native shoots 14-under par to run away from field
SILKEBORG, Denmark – Junior Bence Bertenyi ran away from the field this week and registered a seven-stroke victory at the Danish International Amateur Championship on Friday. Bertenyi finished the 72-hole event at the Silkeborg Golfklub with an impressive 14-under-par 274 (66-70-67-71).
A Budapest, Hungary native, Bertenyi entered today's final round with a four-shot lead and was never challenged after playing the front nine at 2 under. He ended his day with a 1-under-par 71 and was just one of three golfers to shoot below par in the final round.
Bertenyi tallied 19 birdies in the tournament and posted a par score or better on 67 of 72 holes. Two of his five bogeys in the event came on his final two holes today.
Bertenyi and the Rockets will be opening their 2026-27 season at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Knoxville, Tenn.
