Three Rockets Earn Berths into NCAA East Preliminary Round

Hannah Ielfield, Melody Jebiwot and Dorcas Kiptanui will represent Toledo in Lexington, Ky. on May 27-30
TOLEDO, Ohio – Three Toledo distance runners have qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round. Hannah Ielfield, Melody Jebiwot and Dorcas Kiptanui will represent the Rockets in Lexington, Ky. on May 27-30.
Ielfield will compete in the 3000m steeplechase, Jebiwot will run in the 10,000m and Kiptanui will see action in the 5000m.
Ielfield is ranked 36th nationally in the 3000m steeplechase with a qualifying time of 10:11.31, a mark she set at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 16. Her time is sixth overall in program history.
Jebiwot qualified for the 10,000m as she clocked a time of 33:28.53 at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions on May 16. She ranks 29th nationally and moved into third all-time in program history with her time.
Kiptanui will run the 5000m after qualifying with a time of 15:54.39 at the Raleigh Relays on March 27. The junior is ranked 44th in the country and owns the program's second-fastest time in the event.
Jebiwot will compete in the 10,000m on Thursday, May 28 at 9:10 p.m. Ielfield and Kiptanui will close out the weekend on Saturday, May 30 with the 3000m steeplechase at 5:40 p.m. and the 5000m at 8:10 p.m.
