Lauren Best-Hovermale Named Associate Athletic Director of Compliance

Best-Hovermale is a 2021 graduate of UToledo College of Law
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo announced the appointment of Lauren Best-Hovermale as Associate Athletic Director of Compliance today.
Best-Hovermale, a UToledo College of Law graduate, joins the Rockets following five years of service in the athletics compliance office at Bowling Green State University. Best-Hovermale also served as an athletics compliance extern at Toledo in 2020-21.
"We're thrilled to add Lauren to our compliance staff," said Interim Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian Lutz. "As a graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law and former compliance extern in our department, she has the education, experience, and thorough understanding of the changing NCAA landscape necessary to ensure we continue to be a department principled on integrity. Please join me in welcoming Lauren, her husband Jon, and son J.J. to the Rocket family."
Best-Hovermale joined the Bowling Green compliance office in May 2021 as an intern, was promoted to assistant director in November 2021 and was again promoted to director of compliance in October of 2024.
"I am extremely grateful to Brian for the opportunity to fill the Associate AD role," said Best-Hovermale, who grew up in Sylvania, Ohio and graduated from Central Catholic High School. "Being a Toledo area native and growing up as a Rocket, I am excited to come home and assist the department in any way I can. I'm looking forward to working with our coaches and staff in their continued success."
Best-Hovermale, a licensed attorney in the state of Ohio, is a 2021 cum laude graduate of University of Toledo College of Law, where she was on the Dean's List and was a full-tuition merit scholarship recipient.

A three-year letterwinner in softball at Siena Heights University, Best-Hovermale graduated in three years with a bachelor of arts in law and politics in May 2018, followed by a bachelor of business administration in sport management in August 2018. She later graduated with a 4.0 GPA from Siena Heights in December 2019 with a master of business administration. Â

A pitcher while at Siena Heights, Best was on the Dean's List, earned the 2018 NAIA Champions of Character Award, was a two-time NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete as well as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete.Â
