Rockets to play in conference semis for the fifth-straight season
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will play in its fifth-straight Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinals on Friday, March 13. The No. 6 seed Rockets will face No. 2 seed Ball State from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Tipoff for Friday's game will be approximately 30 minutes after the Miami-Ohio game, around 12:30 p.m.
The Rockets (16-14) took down No. 3 seed UMass in Wednesday's quarterfinals in a 67-56 result. Tied at 44 in the fourth quarter, Toledo outscored the Minutewomen, 23-12 over the final 6:33, never losing the lead from that point on. The backcourt trio of Patricia Anumgba, Ella Weaver and Kendall Carruthers combined for 51 points on the evening. Anumgba posted her first career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Toledo also out-rebounded the Minutewomen, 46-31.
The Cardinals (26-6) eliminated No. 7 seed Bowling Green in a 75-63 result. Ball State got 25 points on 9-of-17 field goals from Grace Kingery and another 18 points from Bree Salenbein.

The two sides played twice in the regular season, both single-digit Ball State victories. BSU won, 72-68 in Muncie on Jan. 7 and 78-71 in Toledo on March 7. Both teams will also meet in Cleveland for the second-straight season, after a 65-58 victory for Ball State in last year's MAC championship game.

Recapping the Quarterfinals
- Toledo sprinted out to a 14-2 lead in the first quarter, and pushed the lead back into double digits, 36-24 at halftime.
- The Minutewomen rallied in the third and fourth quarters, scoring the first six points of the fourth to tie things, 44-44 with 6:58 left.
- Ella Weaver knocked down a three to re-take the lead and the Rockets never relinquished the lead over the last 6:33, out-scoring UMass, 23-12 over that span.
- Graduate student Patricia Anumgba led Toledo with 19 points and 12 rebounds for her first career double-double. She scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and added three steals.
- Both Kendall Carruthers and Ella Weaver scored 16 points. Carruthers scored 13 of her 16 in the first half and shot 5-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three.
- Weaver shot 6-of-14 from the field and 4-of-9 from three, tying her career high in three-pointers made.
- Miriam Diala added 10 points and eight rebounds, with four rebounds coming on the offensive glass.
- Toledo's defense held UMass to just 1-of-14 shooting from three, while making 8-of-23 from the beyond the arc on offense.
- The Rockets will play in the semifinals for the fifth-straight season and have an 8-3 record in the MAC Tournament since 2022. A win would advance Toledo to the MAC Tournament championship game for the third time in four years.
- The Rockets' defense has held eight MAC opponents under 55 points this season and are 8-0 in such instances. This includes five opponents under 50 points.
- Toledo has out-rebounded 22-of-30 opponents this season. UT was +15 in the rebound column against UMass in the quarterfinals.
- UT has out-rebounded opponents by double-digits 14 times this season.
- Kendall Carruthers leads the Rockets on the scoresheet with 12.3 points per game. She has scored at least 10 points in 19 games this season, including three outings of over 20 points.
- Graduate student Patricia Anumgba has now been in double figures 15 times. This includes seven 20-point games, all coming in the calendar year 2026.
- Junior Ella Weaver tied a career high with four three-pointers made against UMass. Over her last five games, Weaver has averaged 16.0 points and 3.0 three-pointers made.
- With Anumgba's double-double on Wednesday, four Rockets have earned double-doubles this season – Anumgba, Faith Fedd-Robinson (3), Evalyse Cole (2) and Ella Weaver (2).
- Toledo is third in scoring defense, allowing just 63.0 points/game. Toledo entered the tournament allowing 60.9 points/game to conference opponents, second-fewest in the league.
- On the glass, the Rockets lead the league in rebounds allowed to their opponents (31.2), and also rank third in team defensive rebounds (25.8) and rebound margin (+6.0).
- The +6.0 rebound margin also ranks 46th nationally.
- In conference play, Toledo allowed just a 29.7% three-point field goal percentage, second-best defensively in the league.
- From beyond the arc, Patricia Anumgba is 15th with a .331 three-point percentage, while Ella Weaver is 19th at .318. Weaver is 11th (1.7) and Anumgba 16th (1.5) in three-point makes per game.
- Defensively, Anumgba is 10th in the league with 1.8 steals/game.
- Kendall Carruthers is 14th in the MAC in assists, dishing out 2.9/game. She tied a season high with six in the March 7 meeting against BSU.
