Evans and Slegers each placed fourth in their events
AKRON, Ohio – Leah Evans and Janne Slegers each tallied a podium finish in their respective events for the Toledo Rockets on the third day of the Mid-American Conference Swimming & Diving Championships in Akron, Ohio on Friday.
Evans placed fourth overall in the 100 back with a time of 52.95. The junior earned the first seed in the event after the preliminary round. This marks Evans' best finish in the conference championship event throughout her career.
Slegers took fourth in the 200 free after tallying a final mark of 1:47.99. The senior's time moved her to fifth overall in the all-time program top-10 results and marked her best individual performance at the MAC Championship.Â
Evans and Slegers' podium finishes mark the first time since 2020 that there have been two Rockets on the podium.
The 200 free relay team of Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes, Slegers, Kenzie Robinson and Rosie Richards took seventh overall with a final time of 1:32.83, good for an NIC Cut.Â
Kenzie Myco saw action in the 100 Fly B Finals, recording a time of 55.68 to place 15th overall and move into ninth in the all-time program top-10 results. Richards competed in the 200 Free B Finals, recording an 11th-place finish.Â
In the morning preliminary session, Paula Pavillard-Salvador and Hannah Wentzel had strong showings. Pavillard-Salvador earned an NIC B cut in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.83 while Wentzel broke into the program all-time top-10 in the 100 back with a time of 55.80.

Toledo will conclude the MAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, Feb. 28. Preliminaries will start at 10:00 a.m. with finals kicking off at 6:00 p.m. Both sessions will be streamed on ESPN+.
