Leah Evans earns a podium finish on final day of the conference meet
AKRON, Ohio – Janne Slegers won the 200 Freestyle B Finals and Leah Evans tallied a podium finish in the 200 backstroke as Toledo women's swimming & diving team closed out the 2026 Mid-American Conference Swimming & Diving Championships in Akron, Ohio on Saturday.
Slegers tallied a final time of 49.67 to win the B finals in her final conference championship appearance. Her mark also ranks her second all-time in program top-ten results. Junior Leah Evans took fifth overall in the 200 back with a time of 1:57.21, earning her second podium finish of the conference championship event.
The Rockets placed seventh overall in the team standings with 174 points and finished ahead of rival Bowling Green. Akron won the league title with 771 points.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Rosie Richards, Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes, Kenzie Robinson and Slegers tallied a final time of 3:23.44, good for an NIC A cut. Freshman Lindsay Bright tallied a 10th place finish in the 1650m freestyle, touching the wall at 17:05.93.
