Rockets Fall to Falcons in Battle of I-75 Rematch

Sonny Wilson leads all scorers with 20 points
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Sonny Wilson and Leroy Blyden Jr. combined for 33 points but an early second-half surge by Bowling Green proved to be the difference as the Falcons defeated Toledo, 80-70, in this season's second edition of the Battle of I-75 sponsored by Fremont Credit Union at the Stroh Center on Saturday..
Toledo won the first round, 73-72, in Savage Arena on Jan. 24.
The Rockets led by as many as six points in the first half and trailed by just a bucket, 37-35, at halftime. However, BGSU opened the second half on a 21-7 run that forced Toledo to play from behind the rest of the way. A Blyden jumper cut the margin to 64-55 with 7:45 to play, but the Rockets could get no closer.
QUOTING HEAD COACH TOD KOWALCZYK
"A lot of the credit goes to Bowling Green tonight. I thought they played really well. The first half was nip and tuck. We had a run at the end of the first half and could have tied it. I felt we had some really makeable shots around the basket that we didn't finish. That kind of took some confidence away from our post players. Then we had some open threes, too, that we didn't convert. But to me, the story of the game was how Bowling Green started the second half."
