Toledo earns nine top-10 finishes on final day of meet
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Nine Rockets tallied personal best times on the second day of competition at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Saturday afternoon.
Toledo opened up the day with the 3000m open where three Rockets placed within the top six, led by Bailey Ranta who took second overall with a personal record time of 9:37.11. Lauren Zanotelli followed in fifth with her own personal best mark of 9:46.53 while Jaydon Cirincione placed sixth with a 9:47.85 final time.
Sophomore Gabby Phelan tallied a personal best in the mile as she crossed the finish line at 4:46.55 to take sixth overall. In the 3000m event, Melody Jebiwot led the team as she placed fourth with a personal record time of 9:14.76. Dorcas Jeptoo Kiptantui (11th/9:20.36) and Lianna Surtz (13th/9:22.58) rounded out the top-three Rockets in the event.
In the 4x400m relay, the squad of Alissa Magato, Maley Roberts, Bralynne Dunn and Sydney Stepanovich recorded a season-best time of 3:59.13.
On the men's side, three Rockets competed in the 3000m. Joad Martinho led the way, taking second with a time of 8:00.57. Sibonelo Khumalo (7th/8:04.12) and Loann Brelivet (9th/8:04.62) placed within the top-10 and rounded out UT's competitors.
