Kendall Carruthers and Evalyse Cole score in double-figures for the Rockets
OXFORD, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team was unable to rally from behind in the second half, falling on the road at Miami, 63-55 at Millett Hall on Saturday afternoon.
After trailing early, the Rockets (6-6, 1-1 MAC) fought back in the second quarter, trimming its deficit to one at halftime. Toledo then halted a Miami run in the third quarter, closing to within two by the end of the quarter. However, an early fourth-quarter run was enough to close out the game for the RedHawks (10-4, 2-0 MAC).
The Rockets were again strong on the boards, out-rebounding Miami, 35-21, including a season-high 15 offensive rebounds. However, the RedHawks won the turnover battle, 27-17 and out-shot Toledo, 47%-40%.

How It Happened
- Miami made four of its first five shots to jump out to a 10-2 lead at the 7:21 mark. The RedHawks led by as much as 12 in the opening period and held an 18-8 edge at quarter's end.
- Toledo stormed back in the second quarter, beginning on a 10-0 run to tie the game, 18-18. Later in the quarter, Patricia Anumgba and Kendall Carruthers combined for back-to-back threes to give Toledo its first lead, 29-27. The Rockets were within one at halftime, 30-29.
- Miami stretched the lead to 37-31 with 6:23 left in the third quarter, but the Rockets scored six of the final eight points of the quarter to get with two, 42-40 at the end of the period.
- The RedHawks scored nine of the first 10 points in the fourth quarter to extend its advantage to 50-41. Two baskets by Evalyse Cole put Toledo back within two possessions at 51-45 with 3:31 to play. However, the RedHawks scored on their next three possessions to push the lead up to double digits with 2:23 left.
- Kendall Carruthers marked her team-leading ninth game in double-figure scoring this season.
- The Rockets held a +14 rebound margin, 35-21, the ninth time in 10 games out-rebounding its opponent, and the third-straight game doing so by at least 10 boards. Toledo out-scored Miami, 15-3 in second chance points.
- Faith Fedd-Robinson led the Rockets in rebounds for the eighth time in nine games.
- Evalyse Cole marked her second-straight multi-block game on the afternoon.
