Rockets to face either Belmont or Saint Francis on Nov. 26
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's basketball team's schedule for the inaugural Coconut Hoops tournament in Fort Myers, Fla. in November was announced on Tuesday by bdG Sports.
The Rockets will face Troy on Monday, Nov. 24 at 11:00 a.m. before meeting either Belmont or Saint Francis in the championship/consolation game on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 11:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.
The event formerly known as the Gulf Coast Showcase will be played at Florida Gulf Coast University's Alico Arena after being previously held at Hertz Arena the past 12 seasons. Â
Toledo opens its 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 3 when it hosts South Alabama in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. The Rockets will also entertain Marshall (Nov. 8), Detroit Mercy (Nov. 15) and Youngstown State (Nov. 19) in Savage Arena in the month of November.
Junior guard Sonny Wilson ranked second on the team last year with 15.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg and 3.2 apg and is Toledo's lone returning starter. Sophomore guard Tyler Ode and sophomore Jaylan Ouwinga also are back this season.
The Rockets have added transfers Sean Craig (Sr., F, 6-7, 220, IUPU-Indy), Austin Parks (Jr., C, 6-10, 250, Ohio State), Chris Riddle (So., G, 6-5, 213, DePaul), Mynor Strong (So., G, 6-3, 175, Dodge City C.C.) and Kyler Vanderjagt (Sr., G, 6-4, 205, Central Michigan).
