Toledo Earns NABC Team Academic Award for Seventh Consecutive Year

Rockets top MAC with 10 NABC Team Academic honors in 13 years of award's existence
TOLEDO, Ohio – The University of Toledo men's basketball program has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for a seventh-straight season, the association announced on Thursday. The award is in its 13th year of existence, and the Rockets have received the award 10 times.
Toledo's 10 NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards lead all Mid-American Conference schools. Western Michigan ranks second with seven awards, with Central Michigan and Ohio receiving the award on three occÂasions. Bowling Green, Kent State, and Miami have been honored twice, while Ball State and Eastern Michigan and have been recognized once.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes NCAA and NAIA men's basketball teams that earned cumulative grade point averages of 3.0 or better throughout the 2024-25 academic year.
The Rockets also placed three individuals on the NABC's Honors Court: Andre Lorentsson (3.276), Colin O'Rourke (3.889), and Javan Simmons (3.536). Only juniors and seniors with academic standing as well as graduate students with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher are eligible for the Honors Court.
