Nicholson will compete in 1500m and 5000m in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 29-31
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo senior Laura Nicholson has qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Round. Nicholson will compete in her second-straight regional meet on May 28-31 in Jacksonville, Fla.
Nicholson will see action in the 1500m and the 5000m events. The Cork, Ireland native is ranked seventh nationally and fourth in the East region in the 1500m with a time of 4:07.17 which she recorded at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 18. Her qualifying time was the 17th-fastest 1500m in NCAA history and broke the school record by three seconds.
Nicholson qualified for the 5000m with a final time of 15:33.04 at the Raleigh Relays on March 28 and broke the school record by 26 seconds in her debut 5K. The senior ranks eighth in the East region and 22nd nationally in the event.
Nicholson will run the first round of the 1500m on Thursday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. with the quarterfinals taking place on Saturday, May 31 at 5:15 p.m. She will conclude the weekend with the 5000m at 8:10 p.m. on May 31.
