TOLEDO, Ohio – Student-athletes on the Toledo Football team earned a combined 3.121 grade point average last semester, the second highest GPA in program history using a normal grading scale. The 3.121 mark trails only the 3.202 the team earned in the spring of 2023.

In addition, 12 Rockets received diplomas at May's commencement ceremony, while 19 earned Academic All-MAC honors and seven were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Anthony Torres (first team) and Maxen Hook (second team) were named to the CSC Academic All-America Team. It is the second year in a row that Toledo has had two players make Academic All-America and just the third time ever. Toledo was the only Mid-American Conference school to have two honorees.

The football program also had the second-highest Graduation Success Rate (94 percent) among Mid-American Conference schools in the latest figures released by the NCAA.

"Academic success is at the core of who we are as a program," said Head Coach Jason Candle. "These young men understand that excellence isn't just about what happens on the field—it's about how you prepare for life beyond the game. To see them achieve at this level in the classroom, earn degrees, and set records speaks volumes about their dedication. We're building champions here in every sense of the word, and that starts with accountability in their education."
