Both earn selections after Toledo makes run to title game
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Following the conclusion of the Mid-American Conference Tournament, Toledo women's basketball graduate students Khera Goss and Sammi Mikonowicz were named to the MAC All-Tournament Team on Saturday.
Goss averaged 9.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals for the tournament, shooting a blistering 8-of-14 from three-point range. She had a tournament-high 11 points and knocked down three triples in the championship game against Ball State. Against Buffalo in the semifinals, Goss' defense shut down two-time MAC leading scorer Chellia Watson, who scored just 12 points on 5-of-19 shooting.
Mikonowicz led the Rockets with 14.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. She shot 50.0% (16-of-32) from the field for the tournament. She led Toledo with 18 points with six rebounds against Central Michigan in the quarterfinals and turned in a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double against Buffalo. The Rossford native added 12 points with seven rebounds and a career-high five steals in Saturday's title game.
With Goss' and Mikonowicz' play, Toledo reached the MAC Tournament championship game for the second time in three seasons, defeating No. 7 seed Central Michigan, 76-58 in the quarterfinals and No. 3 seed Buffalo, 56-49 in the semifinals. Toledo fell to No. 1 seed Ball State, 65-58 in Saturday's championship bout.
The duo also became the program's all-time leaders in games played (159), while Mikonowicz also became the program's all-time leading rebounder (1,100) during the tournament. Both respective career marks were both reached on Friday.
Mikonowicz garnered her second MAC All-Tournament Team selection of her career (2023) while Goss took her first.
