TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team looks to win its second-straight road game and fourth in a row overall when the Rockets travel to Buffalo for an 11:00 a.m. tip on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+ with radio broadcasts on WCWA 1230 AM and The Varsity Network App.

At 7-3 in the MAC, Toledo is in fourth place in the standings, three games behind first-place Ball State. Buffalo is 8-2 in league play and tied for second place with Kent State.

The Rockets (15-5) defeated Eastern Michigan, 77-49, on Saturday for their biggest margin of victory in conference play. All five starters scored in double figures, led by Sammi Mikonowicz with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting while Kendall Carruthers added 14. Cadence Dykstra scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a team-high four assists.

The Bulls (19-2) defeated Northern Illinois in a 84-58 blowout on Saturday. Chellia Watson scored 24 points while Kirsten Lewis-Williams added 19. Buffalo has won six straight games heading into Wednesday's matchup.

Toledo leads the all-time series 28-10 and is 9-7 on the road. Wednesday will be UT's first game in Buffalo in the series since Jan. 23, 2021. The Bulls will make a return trip to Savage Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Sammi Mikonowicz Shines in Big Week

Sammi Mikonowicz helped lead the Rockets to a 2-0 week, scoring 17 points and grabbing six rebounds in each win against Miami and Eastern Michigan.
Mikonowicz shot 12-of-18 (.667) from the field for the week and 7-of-8 at the free throw line.
She scored Toledo's first nine points against Eastern Michigan, and finished with 11 points in the first quarter alone, shooting 5-of-5 from the field.
Mikonowicz is sixth in the league in field goal percentage (50.3%), seventh in three-point percentage (38.2%) and 10th in rebounds per game (5.8).
On Wednesday, Mikonowicz became just the second player in Toledo history to reach 1,000 career rebounds, joining Angela Drake in the exclusive club.
The Rossford, Ohio native is the only active player in the MAC with 1,000 career rebounds.

Rockets on the Road

Toledo is 6-4 away from Savage Arena this season and 4-3 in true road games.
The Rockets are 3-2 in MAC road games, with wins at Akron, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
Toledo's two biggest scoring margins in MAC play have both come on the road, with a 20-point victory at Akron and a 28-point triumph at Eastern Michigan.

Rebounding Rockets

Toledo was plus-seven on the boards against Eastern Michigan, out-rebounding a conference opponent for the eighth time in 10 games. This followed up a plus-17 performance against Miami, Toledo's best rebounding margin of the conference schedule.
During its three-game winning streak, Toledo has held Bowling Green (23) and Miami (22) to its lowest rebound totals of the season.
The Rockets are 32nd in Division I with a +7.2 rebound margin this season.
UT is +6.4 in conference games, the second-best margin in the league.
Every player that saw the floor recorded at least one rebound against Eastern Michigan.

Of Note

Kendall Carruthers is averaging 17.3 ppg in her last three games and has scored in double figures in six of her last seven. At the foul line, she is fifth overall (88.1%) and sixth in conference games (91.7%), including going 21-of-21 in her last five games.
The Rockets have shot 80% or better from the free throw line six times in conference play. UT is shooting 76.7% from the charity stripe in league games compared to 68.2% in non-conference play.
Khera Goss is fourth in the league in overall three-point percentage (39.7%) while Sammi Mikonowicz is seventh (38.2%). Destiny Robinson is fourth in the league in conference games from downtown, shooting 10-of-22 (45.5%)
Toledo has held six of its 10 conference opponents below 60 points and has the third-best scoring defense in MAC games (59.7).
Faith Fedd-Robinson is ninth in the league with 15 blocks on the season and has five blocks in her last four games.
