Former Rocket safety runs a solid 4.56 in the 40-yard dash
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Former University of Toledo safety Maxen Hook made a strong showing at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Friday, running a 4.56 time in his second attempt in the 40-yard dash.
In addition to his time in the 40, Hook also registered a 34.5-inch vertical jump and a standing broad jump of 8.58 feet. All are considered very solid numbers, according to Relative Athletic Score.
Hook, a safety from New Palestine, Ind., earned All-MAC honors for the fourth time this past season, becoming only the third Rocket ever to achieve this feat. He earned first-team All-MAC accolades in 2022, 2023 and 2024, and third-team honors in 2021. He led the Rockets in tackles with 107 in 2024. For his career, Hook had 356 tackles, seven interceptions and 15 pass breakups. He also participated in Senior Bowl workouts but was not able to play in the game due to an injury.
Hook's Toledo teammate, defensive tackle Darius Alexander, competed at the Combine yesterday. The two are hoping to be the latest Rockets chosen in the NFL Draft (April 24-26). Since 2017, 10 Rockets have been selected in the NFL Draft. In the 2024 draft, Quinyon Mitchell was chosen as the 22nd pick by the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, the first Rocket to be taken in the first round in 31 years. Mitchell was runner-up as the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024.
