Saturday's defeat snaps Toledo's season-long seven-game winning streak
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak snapped in an 81-72 loss to Bowling Green in the Battle of I-75 at the Stroh Center on Saturday.
The Rockets (19-6, 10-4 MAC) fell behind after the first quarter, 25-14 and were never able to claw back into the lead. Down 10 heading into the fourth quarter, Toledo pulled to within one possession twice but could not pull closer as the Falcons (15-11, 8-6 MAC) won their fourth-straight contest.
Quoting Head Coach Ginny Boggess
"This was an incredible environment, and tonight was everything I thought it would be between the crowd, the rivalry and the energy between the two teams. All credit to Bowling Green and their staff for having a great gameplan. Erika Porter and Amy Velasco played like seniors that didn't want to lose to us in their final rivalry home game. Those two players especially led the charge and set the tone for the game."
