Kendall Carruthers in its 75-54 victory over Akron at Savage Arena on Saturday.

Tied 27-27 in the second half, the Rockets (18-5, 9-3 MAC) out-scored the Zips (9-16, 3-9 MAC) 28-18 in the third quarter and 20-9 in the fourth.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Zips took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter at the 6:05 mark of the first quarter, before the Rockets responded with five-straight of their own to get on the board.
- Akron grabbed a 16-12 lead at the end of the first, scoring the last five points of the period.
- The Rockets pulled ahead, 21-18 with a 9-2 run to start the second quarter.
- Toledo and Akron battled back-and-forth and went into halftime even at 27-27. The Rockets' defense held the Zips to 1-of-8 from three-point range.
- The Rockets took the lead for good at the 7:14 mark of the third quarter thanks to a Kendall Carruthers layup.Â
- Toledo then exploded to take a 10-point lead with 1:19 remaining in the third period and maintained the 55-45 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Toledo shot 9-of-16 (56.3%) in the third quarter.
- Khera Goss hit a pair of threes to further extend the Rockets' lead to 61-47 with 8:36 left to play in the fourth quarter. Toledo's lead was never below double digits in the fourth quarter. Threes from Destiny Robinson and Evalyse Cole were the exclamation-point buckets in the final minutes.
Game Notes
- The Rockets out-shot Akron 45.5%-36.0% on the afternoon. Toledo shot 61.6% (16-of-26) in the second half.
- UT won the turnover battle, with 12 turnovers committed compared to 17 from Akron. The Rockets dominated in points off turnovers, 26-6.
- Toledo's bench out-scored Akron, 29-10.
- The Rockets' defense held its fifth-straight opponent under 60 points.
- Toledo tied a season high with six blocks as a team.
